Get help now
If you or someone you are with is in danger right now, use one of the numbers below. You do not have to explain yourself first, and you do not have to be sure it counts as an emergency.
Get help now
If you are thinking about ending your life or hurting yourself, you do not have to carry it alone. Help exists right now, and reaching for it is not an overreaction.
- In the US: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Free, confidential, answered 24 hours a day. You can also chat at 988lifeline.org.
- Outside the US: call your local emergency number - 911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in the EU - or find the crisis line for your country at findahelpline.com.
- If you have already hurt yourself or taken something: call emergency services now. Do not wait to see whether it gets worse.
A trained counselor answers 988, not a bot, and you do not have to be certain it is an emergency before you call. They can stay on the line with you, help you decide what to do next, and connect you to services near you.
If you are worried about someone else: ask them directly whether they are thinking about suicide - asking does not plant the idea. Stay with them, help them call one of the numbers above, and call emergency services if they are in immediate danger.
This page is general information, not medical advice. In an emergency, call emergency services first.
If you are not in immediate danger
Crisis lines are not only for the moment things become unbearable. If you are frightened by your own thoughts, if you cannot see a way forward, or if you are simply worn down and alone with it, that is enough reason to call. You can also talk to people living with the same condition in the community: browse the communities.
Peer support is not a substitute for crisis care. If your safety is at risk, the numbers above come first.
What this page is not
It is not a medical service, and we cannot see what you are going through from here. Nobody at Deeply Health monitors these pages. If you need a person to respond, call one of the numbers above.
If you are worried about how another member is doing, you can report a post to a human moderator. Our team looks at safety reports first, but we are not an emergency service - do not wait for us if someone is in danger.
